He and guitar designer / musician Michael Sciuto created the prototype for these instruments in 1986. For the past 13 years, while also performing in various bands, Kevin has been refining the design and functional aspects of his primary line of 4,5,and 6 string Lexa and Protege series basses. In 1996, Brubaker expanded his product line again with the help of Michael Sciuto to include the Bo Axe, a slim-bodied electric upright bass which can be plucked or bowed. In 1998, after years of prototyping, and feedback from top players, Brubaker again expanded his product line to include 6 string guitars. At present, Brubaker Guitars Inc. builds approximately 10 instruments per month out of a 2200 square ft. facility. Kevin Brubaker ensures that every instrument leaving his shop plays superbly, sounds great, and is built to the tightest specifications possible.
