this month i have try to mod my TS-9 and search at the web and draw out some conclusion! http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/TStech/tsxtech.gif i use the above schematic to show the detail! input buffer stage 1. change the 510k at + 4.5V to 620k for less "tone-drain". 2. change the trainsistor to MPSA18/2N5089 to low noise clipping Amp stage 1. change the 4k7 to 1.5k/2.4k for more drive. 2. change the 0.047uf to 0.22/0.1uf for more bass. 3. change the second diode to 1N4001 for sweeter distortion. output buffer stage 1. series res. change to 100ohm and shunt res. to 10kohm(same as TS-808) the op-amp IC 1. JRC4558D/TI RC4558P/LM833 for better respone change the two 1/50 NP and 2 tant 0.22uf to polyester film cap can give me any comments on the mod! thx!
i can't bought the same Voltage of the replacement cap of tant 0.22uf; i just can bought the same 0.22uf but 250V, will it cause any problems? and i want find the polyester film type cap but the shop salesman said don't have this kind of cap, so i just can find metal film cap; so what is the main different of this two type of cap? thx!

have finish la! but i am trying combime different diode to giving a asymetrical clipping, trying find better! later i will post some sample file la!
first change to TS-808 circult (change to the IC and 2 resistor at the output buffer), and then increase the bass & drive(change the 2 resistor & 1 capacitor at the clipping amp stage); last change one diode to 1N4001 for Sweeter distortion coz it will not clip at the same voltage for positive and negative signals, it give you asymetrical clipping, the resulting second harmonic will be very subtle, not audible as an octave effect at all, just a "sweeter" or more liquid tone. (copy from GEO) but i really can't hear the different for change the diode to 1N4001! can anyone give me some comments?
now i finsih the mod of ts-9 la! and i will try to record demo and post here! any comment for the "drive", "tone" & "level" setting of the ts-9 for record?
u can replace the Led (3mm Green) for the 1n4001 diode! that can be usefull for your high gain modify!!
