5.1的監聽是用5個相同的monitors 再加上一個低頻monitor,通常人們都用active的speakers像Genelec或Mackie,從錄音卡像MOTU 1296用單獨輸出的方式直接接到active 的speakers。所以你錄音的時候差別不大,主要是混音的時候原本混成兩軌立體聲道,現在混成6軌而已。不過做過的人不多,很多像立體的感覺在6聲道下思考可能不一樣,也還沒發展出一套像stereo兩軌 那樣許多已知的技巧。 不過現在製成DVD audio的軟硬體都太貴,像軟體一套就定價台幣7萬左右,加上硬體燒錄還有家用規格很難配合,5.1的錄音應該還不用太傷腦筋。
5.1 的 surround audio 可分為兩個part 討論 #1 在錄音時以5.1的format 錄製,目前有如Soundfield,SPL&Brauner..製造專門的Mic pre & Mics,不過這樣的applications,目前多用於acoustic sampling or classical recording....當然也不一定非得用如此的setting 去錄,不過phase問題是大考量!! #2 把multi audio source 以Multi channels Monitors 作Mixing 或監聽,這個部份有許多種規格,AC-3,5.1,7.1,...各家的channels assign or power ratio,或speakers angle,sub-bass filter setting 都有一些些相同,相異,or 相似,目前來說5.1最普及但規格也最模糊,Dolby surround 以前不但decode processor 昂貴,Monitors Acoustic 還得經過原廠認證,但目前有些software 可以authorizing easily,但老實說個人懷疑少了正確的monitoring setting 的surround mixing 有什麼意義,或這麼說吧!用6個錯置的monitors mixed 的效果,在正確or 一般消費系統的音場下,聽起來會如何?? 現在更有如T.C. System 6000,這類的digital effect 把原本stereo 的mix "unwarp" 成 5.1 surround format,fast like a snap !!但,,,我的疑問是...WHY SHOULD WE GO THE FAR ???if A surround mix would sound differently in each individual place,or not the SAME as it was created,HOW and WHY could we accept that as a "STANDAR REF"....???I just finished a DVD production with offical AC-3 surround,but still could not figure it out while during the producing !!shame on me !!
BTW.. The "Jellyfish" meter is very ,very useless to me personally,I guess I would need some more working hours to get to know how to read it !!
