nickel/silver frets This is a common cosmetic problem with nickel/silver frets. If you want to avoid it, I would recommend getting guitars with stainless steel frets in the future. With SS frets, some people hear a difference, for example, James Tyler, while other don't, such as Tom Anderson. I persoally don't hear a difference. Your question can be easily addressed. You can do this yourself. You will need masking tape and rubbing/polishing compound. First: next time when you change strings, remove all strings and use the masking tape to mask off the fretboard. The purpose is to prevent the compound from getting in contact with the fretboard. Second, with the masking taken care of, take a small amount of compound, distribute it evenly on a piece of cloth (your old T-shirt works fine), and then you can start polishing all frets. You won't hurt anything on your guitar by doing so. But if you are timid about doing this yourslef, take your guitar to Jeff or any other reputable guitar techs. Peace. Play on.
